Organic Broccoli Sprouting Seeds, 4 Ounces
Eat only one ounce of broccoli sprouts to get the same amount of health protecting, disease fighting compounds as in one and a quarter pounds of cooked broccoli.
WHY EAT BROCCOLI SPROUTS
Scientific studies have reported that an antioxidant found in broccoli sprouts
called sulforophane glucosinolate (SGS) is a factor in preventing many
diseases, including several types of cancer, high blood pressure, macular
degeneration, stomach ulcer and may help reduce cholesterol levels in just a
week.
Anti-Cancer- Studies have shown SGS has inhibited the growth of mammary,
prostate, and colon cancer cells and kills cells with potential cancer causing
mutations.
Heart Protection- SGS lowers the risk of high blood pressure, heart
disease and stroke by raising the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity of
cells.
Kills Helicobacter Pylori- the bacteria that causes gastritis and stomach
ulcers and can lead to stomach cancer.
Lowers Cholesterol- eating 3 ½ ounces of sprouts per day can
significantly lower cholesterol.
GROWING YOUR BROCCOLI SPROUTS
Broccoli sprouts are easy to grow. Seeds become sprouts in 3 to 6 days. Each
tablespoon of seeds will give you about a cups worth of sprouts. Sprouts have a
shelf life of 2 to 6 weeks.
STEP 1. Rinse the seeds then place them in a bowl covered with cool water
and let soak overnight or for 6 to10 hours.
STEP 2. Rinse the soaked seeds and place them in your sprouting device (a
glass jar, a cloth bag, etc). Rinse and drain the seeds two ? three times a day.
STEP 3. After a few days you will see tiny yellow leaves develop.. If you
want to green your leaves place the sprouts in the light but not in direct sun.
STEP 4. After the leaves are green (one day usually). place your sprouts
in a large bowl and fill with cool water. Agitate the water to loosen the seeds
hulls from the sprout. They will probably float to the top. Remove as many of
the seed hulls as possible. Drain the sprouts and let them dry completely..
STEP 5. Place your sprouts in a covered container. Sprouts will keep for
2 to 6 weeks in the refrigerator. ENJOY!
